Zurich, May 1, 2026: Dufour Aerospace is pleased to announce the appointment of Joost Hamers to its Senior Management Team as Head of Engineering, as well as the appointment of Timon Wehmann as Chief Engineer.
In his role as Head of Engineering, Joost will lead the overall engineering organization, focusing on team structure, processes, and delivery across programs. As Chief Engineer, Timon will be responsible for the technical integrity of the aircraft, overseeing design decisions, system integration, and coherence of engineering activities. These changes support the company’s evolution from prototyping to structured qualification, certification, and production activities.
Joost Hamers initially joined Dufour Aerospace as Transition Lead, where he supported the Senior Management Team in defining the organizational structure at the department level. With this structure now established, he has assumed the role of Head of Engineering. In this position, Joost will focus on strengthening the engineering organization and its ways of working. The initial focus will be on reinforcing the engineering and design verification processes and the interfaces with the Production, Flight Operations, and Quality departments.
Prior to joining Dufour Aerospace, Joost served as Head of Development at UMS Skeldar, where he played a key role in transitioning the organization from a prototyping-focused setup to a product-oriented structure. He also developed and implemented certification strategies for both civil and military UAS applications.
Earlier in his career, Joost held multiple leadership roles at Skyguide Swiss Air Navigation Services, where he led corporate-level program and project management activities and supported strategic initiatives. He also gained significant experience at Pilatus Aircraft, where he was responsible for systems engineering and certification activities for electrical and avionics systems on all business, utility, and special mission aircraft models. Joost began his career at TNO Defence Research, working on military simulation, operational research, and large-scale international programs.
Joost holds a master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Delft University of Technology and an Executive MBA from the University of Lausanne.
Timon Wehmann, who is a member of the Senior Management Team as Chief Product Officer, will take on the role of Chief Engineer. In this position, he will focus on the technical direction of the aircraft and the alignment of engineering activities with real-world operational requirements. Timon will continue driving product strategy at the Senior Management Team level, ensuring alignment among engineering, market needs, and overall company direction.
